McLean Museum & Art Gallery Artist in Residence 2008 - Maggie Bruce

This site is an on-line journal of the residency which I am undertaking during 2007/2008 at the McLean Museum and Art Gallery in Greenock.

Greenock is located in the Clydeside corridor on the West Coast of Scotland and is noted for its rich heritage, with past links to shipbuilding, trade, sugar refining and engineering. The Museum houses over 25,000 items in collections ranging from fine art to local and social history, natural history and world cultures.

The residency will allow me to collaborate with the Museum in creating a significant new body of work based around their collections. Working with the Museum objects will inspire pieces of digital art that I hope will provide a critical link in the chain that connects the historic with the contemporary and the traditional with the innovative.

I have experience across a broad range of photographic techniques both film and digital and specialise in the creation of digital photo-creative montages.

The outcome will be an exhibition that will feature the digital photo-creative montages and audio visuals created during the residency which will present the Museum collections in a new medium for the modern age.
